Client: Alexander Wang Year: 2026
The Wang Contemporary occupies a historic building in the heart of Manhattan’s Chinatown. Originally constructed in the early 20th century, the space has been restored and adapted into a contemporary cultural venue spanning over 10,000 square feet across multiple floors, supporting exhibitions, events, and community programming. The architecture preserves historic character while introducing a contemporary spatial language. The identity is centered on a custom typeface developed as a modification of Alexander Wang’s original brand typeface, adapted through formal influences from the interior murals at 58 Bowery. The resulting system extends the brand’s typographic DNA while introducing a visual language rooted in the building’s cultural and architectural context. Role: Custom Typeface Design, Brand Identity Systems
